Description

The mythical perfect test box has been sought out for years; one could call it the Holy Grail of CRC. Countless engineers have desperately tried to solve what can only be described as the riddle of constraints that the test box had to meet. How can an indestructible 5'x5'x2.5' steel box weigh less than 300 pounds and cost less than $10,000? We still don't know. Sometimes it feels like the very idea of the test box is designed to break our wallets and our backs with the crushing weight of steel beams (and our spirits with the reality of what it means to be a mechanical engineer). No one wakes up in the morning and thinks about how much they want to build a test box. Instead, CRC members on Project Test Box wake up in the morning hoping it was all a bad dream. May the future generations of CRC live blissfully with a functional test box with the years of pain lost to the sands of time.

Design

A 5' by 5' by 2.5' box with steel beams and polycarbonate sheets for walls. Nothing could possibly go wrong while transporting it, right? No one will be crushed by the weight of a thousand souls lost to a hopeless project, right?
