What Can You Look Forward to With CRC's New Member Experience?

Last year our new recruits had a blast getting to work alongside the team in our newbie training program! Here is just a glimpse of what your upcoming time with CRC will look like.

Late October

Newbie Onboarding

Integrate into our team and learn about the project you'll be working on for the remainder of the semester: the infamous 3-pound project that incorporates elements of all 4 subteams!

Early November

First GBody Meeting

New members experience their first GBody Meeting alongside the team, catching up on all the new developments of each subteam while enjoying a variety of memes that members like to put together for these weekly meetings.

Early November

Newbie Design Review

Newbies launch their 3lb Projects, with CRC mentors guiding them through the ideation process and explaining all the various parts that go into creating competitive combat robots.

Early December

Final Design Review

After finalizing your 3lb Projects with the help of CRC mentors, brushing up on CAD designs and creating a presentation to showcase to the team, you and your project teammates will have the opportunity to show off all your hardwork from this past semester creating a 3lb robot from scratch! Family and friends are welcome to join and share pizza with the team.

End-of-Semester

Competition Day

If we qualify for championships, watch our robots compete at the Norwalk Havoc Robot League Competition around November or December. Through funding and sponsorship, CRC strives to cover the costs for all our members to be able to attend competition day.

January

Newbie Graduation

Newbies are officially welcomed as full-fledged members of their respective subteams.

FAQ

Does Combat Robotics at Cornell offer class credits?

Yes! As a project team run through Cornell, you will be able to receive credits for being on the team starting in the spring semester.

Do you need any prior experience?

We take members of all experience levels. When our new members first join CRC, we take them all through our training program to make sure that all members are able to catch up and explore all the different aspects of the team.

Did you know that CRC has a video game, and is planning on making a new one this upcoming Spring Semester?

No, but now I want to try it!
