Description

Richard, Kinetic's first competition-ready robot, is a 12lb combat robot with a vertically spinning weapon. Richard has competed in 2 qualifying NHRL events and one championship event. Richard will forever be the favorite robot of the team. He is a vertical spinner robot whose weapon destroys the opponent with unmatched speed and power. The enemy that trembles before him gets smashed into the air, only to get crushed a second time upon impact with the ground. His aluminum armor protects him from most attacks.

Design

Richard was first designed in Fall 2021 and has had 2 other iterations since then. Richard's chassis is fully made of Aluminum 6061 and its weapon was also originally this material. Richard's drivetrain has always been a bit of a challenge because the wheels are not aligned with the center of mass. Richard v2 was designed after Richard's first competition. Richard v2 solved most of the issues with v1 including better driving and weapon performance. This was achieved by increasing the diameter of his wheels and replacing his weapon with AR400 steel. Richard was then redesigned again to Richard v3. Richard v3 was focused on improving Richard's reliability and durability. Several changes to his armor made him much stronger as well as protected his wheels with his distinct mountaintop shaped wheel protectors.

• Richard hates tea.
• Richard can self right himself if he flips over by running into a wall with his weapon activated.
• Richards original weapon was made of aluminum which was very malleable and soft.
• Richard loves milk.
• The infamous "cute" tape on Richards weapon was put there for a tiktok and was not supposed to stay for more then 5 minutes but it is still their to this day!
• Richards tape "stickers" are there for good luck and are replaced when they fall off.
